Embryo Syndicate fishery rules 2024/2025

• Disease control: to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases, all fish handling equipment should be thoroughly dried in direct sunlight prior to fishing. Failing to do this puts the whole stock at risk. The risk posed to the venue from diseases such as KHV are increasingly real, so to further safeguard the lake’s future please, ensure all fish handling equipment is on display (in the open air) prior to fishing.
• Always shut and lock all gates after you enter and leave the site. This is compulsory and secures our venue from predators and trespassers. Due to the close proximity of some neighbouring properties, please ensure this is done as quietly as possible. 
• Members are not permitted to enter or leave the lake between the hours of 9pm and 7am, unless in an emergency.
• There is a maximum of five anglers allowed on this venue per night. Members wishing to find out how many anglers are currently fishing must do so via the ‘Russell Green Syndicate’ WhatsApp group, controlled by Embryo Angling. Any anglers not fishing the night must be off the venue before 9pm.
• **IT IS COMPULSORY TO SEND IN FISH CATCH PICTURES. THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR EFFECTIVE FISHERY MANAGEMENT. ALL MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO EITHER EMAIL ALL FISH PICTURES TO FISHPICS@EMBRYOANGLING.ORG OR POST THEM IN THE WHATSAPP GROUP WITHIN ONE WEEK OF CAPTURE. ANGLERS THAT DO NOT SEND IN THEIR CATCH PICTURES WILL NOT BE INVITED TO RE-JOIN THE FOLLOWING SEASON.**

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES PUTS YOUR TICKET IMMEDIATELY AT RISK.

Venue rules

1. Please take all litter home, even if it is not your own. Your swim is your responsibility.
2. Do not cut down or trample foliage without prior agreement from the Embryo Fishery team.
3. Fishing from designated swims only, unless stalking in the shallows (one angler at a time in this area fishing a single rod).
4. Vehicles must be parked in the designated car park only.
5. Pre-baiting is allowed, providing it is done in a respectful manner and does not impact on any other anglers fishing.
6. Do not remove or introduce any fish to any of the lakes (this includes fish for live baiting). Pond fish can carry KHV and can wipe out fisheries. Fish theft will be taken very seriously and will lead to prosecution.
7. A maximum of three fishing rods can be used (one rod only if stalking in the shallows) but anglers must have the necessary EA Rod Licence to cover them. Spod and marker rods can also be used but no hooks of any description should be attached.
8. If your rods are wound in and unattended, hook baits must be removed to avoid risk of wildlife becoming entangled.
9. Please respect the toilet facilities and ensure they are left clean/tidy after use.
10. No drones or remote-controlled vehicles of any kind to be used on Embryo waters, unless express permission is given by Embryo.
11. No boats (including bait boats) are allowed. Embryo fishery boat/s to be used by staff/bailiffs/Fishery Managers only.
12. No guns of any kind, crossbows, bows or any other similar equipment allowed (exception, catapults designed for angling are allowed).
13. No open fires. BBQ’s may be used but they must be raised off the ground.
14. Members have a 48-hour stay limit in place per week.
15. Deepers can be used for finding spots/recording depths only. They must not be used for fish finding. When using a Deeper, please use angling etiquette when other anglers are fishing.
16. Tree climbing is strictly prohibited.
17. Zig rigs are allowed with a minimum line strength of 10lb or 0.25mm diameter as the hook link.
18. Junior members (under 18’s) who wish to fish must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
19. One angler per swim only. No doubling up.
20. No braided mainline on fishing rods, only on spod and marker rods.
21. No wading or swimming.
22. Members may be accompanied by partners/wives/children on their session but strictly no other guests or visitors are permitted.

Fish welfare

1. All members must be in possession of a 42” landing net, large weigh sling and a suitably sized, well-padded unhooking mat. No cradle type mats containing metal bars/frames are allowed.
2. Fish care antiseptic liquids should be carried and used on all sores, lifted scales and hook holds.
3. Fish may be retained in a floating retainer sling for photography purposes for a maximum of one hour whilst camera and weighing kit are assembled.
4. No sacking of fish under any circumstances is allowed.
5. Fish must be lifted out of the water using a retainer weigh sling. Collapse the net down and position the sling underneath before lifting. Always check the carps’ fins are flat to be the body before lifting. This is the safest way for transporting the fish to the unhooking mat and reduces the risk of damage.
6. No nuts or natural baits (maggots, casters, worms etc.) to be used at any time. All particles must be properly soaked and prepared.
7. No ‘long shank nailer’ style hooks or 360 rigs to be used, but Spinner/Ronnie rigs are fine.
8. The OMC ‘The Magic Twig’ is not allowed on this venue.
9. The use of mono, braided or fluorocarbon leaders are not permitted (with the exception of spod or marker rods). Leadcore and Safe Zone/Dark Matter style leaders are allowed.
10. Report any lost tackle to the fishery team as soon as possible. This includes cut offs and crack offs, irrespective of whether a fish was involved or not.

General etiquette

1. Keep within the boundaries of your swim. Rods fished outside boundaries must be wound in when challenged.
2. Swims can only be reserved by anglers actually on the venue. An item of tackle must be placed in the swim you wish to set up in or move into and this must be confirmed with the angler currently in the swim (if it is occupied). Tackle cannot be placed in more than one swim.
3. Bivvying up behind occupied swims is not allowed. Only an item of tackle should be placed there, and no pressure should be applied in an attempt to make a member leave early.
4. Daytime stalking and floater fishing is allowed without removing your session tackle from your swim, but your session rods must be wound in. If other members arrive or wish to move, you may have to decide which swim you wish to fish.
5. Every care should be taken when setting up/casting in not to disturb the fishing of your neighbours.
6.  Dogs are allowed. All dog mess should be cleared up and removed from site and dogs should be always under full control in the confines of your swim.
